Frequently Asked Questions

What can you tell us about the new shooter?

We can confirm that it’s new, that it’s a shooter and that we’re making it with a major publisher. Otherwise, it’s way too early to share any other information on it. We’re grateful for your interest, though.

Do you offer co-op placement?

We do. Co-op placement is extremely competitive and all candidates are required to take a code, art or design test. Programming applicants must be capable of programming in LUA, Unreal Engine 5 blueprints, C or C++. Design applicants must have played Dungeons & Dragons, be competent writers and have a thorough understanding of spreadsheets. Co-op applicants are encouraged to apply early.

Do you offer transition year placement?

We do not at this time. TY positions are resource-intensive and dozens of people apply for them every year. Typically, applicants are required to submit an essay that details what they hope to get from the TY position in a game company specifically. We do not have the bandwidth to accommodate TY students at this time.

Do you offer internships?

We do. All internship positions are full. However, if you consider yourself an exceptional candidate, contact us.

Do I need to have a college degree to work at Romero Games?

No. You need to show demonstrated proof of ability. If you spent all your time coding while others went to college, that’s fine. It’s what John Romero did, too.

Do you offer workshops or training?

We do, from time to time. Sign up for our mailing list. To be notified when the opportunity arises.

I’ll be in Galway. Can I stop by the studio?

As a game development studio, we’re not really set up for public tours. Most of the stuff we’re working on is under non-disclosure agreements. However, if you want to say a quick hello to someone here, you’re welcome to contact us, and we’ll see what we can do.
