
UI Artist (Contract)
Join Romero Games as we develop John Romero’s next First Person Shooter in partnership with a major publisher! This is an unprecedented opportunity to join a thriving independent development studio and work on a high-profile title that will be played by millions of gamers worldwide.
We are looking for an experienced UI Artist with a keen eye for detail, who has 3+ years experience working with exciting and dynamic UI in the Unreal engine, with at least 1 published title (ideally AAA). You'll be part of a small team helping to bring the game’s UI vision to life
Please note: This is a contract position for one year for candidates who are based in a European timezone.
What you will do:
Design and create vibrant UI elements to help guide the player through the game
Enhance usability and the user experience.
Work closely with the design and tech team to ensure all levels of accessibility features are fully catered for
Create visually stunning static and animated UI elements
Work closely with Art Lead/Director, Game Designers and Programmers to create and work on visual guidelines to reinforce and support the overall game vision
What you will have:
A portfolio showing UI that has taken a game to the next level
Experienced in Unreal Engine (preferably UE5), Adobe Suite
Proficient UI/UX prototyping tools, such as Proto.io, Sketch, Figma or others
Full understanding of game workflows and pipelines
A desire to learn new techniques and technologies
Excellent communication and organisational skills
At least 3 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects)
Nice to have:
Experience with version control systems like Perforce
Ability to think beyond the Unreal Engine’s UMG system
Passion for first person shooters
